Fix 4304 (crash selecting just a field). Implement (optional) smooth
scrolling
in unix.

The option to smooth scroll is on by default but can be turned off via a
preference in the layout tab of the options dialog.

This *might* have brokenb other builds in the options dialog but I tried
to hide the option to smooth scroll behind ifdefs. I think it is OK but I
haven't tested.
