5080 could be interpreted as a GnomePrint bug.
Basically, since we use our own "shaper" engine, we
don't exactly match what GnomePrint expects from the
world. If GnomePrint had a mechanism for specifying
character widths, we'd be fine. But it doesn't.
Quite frankly, I could implement Tomas' suggestion in
that bug, but it really disguists me to do so. I still
think that we need to re-examine our glyph positioning
code.
