    Hi Alli,
sorry for my curiosity but are you related to "Rusty" Russell ,
    the Linux kernel hacker?

Anyway, yes, AbiWord does envolopes. If you look at the page setup dialog
you'll an enormous selection of page sizes including many common envolope
sizes. Choose the one you want. You'll also probabally want to choose
"landscape mode" so the text is printed along the long dimension.

Now to print all you Christmas Cards, you probabally won't want to type in
each by hand,(thought it's a nice touch for the people who get them :-)
and if you've got a file full of names and addresses you can give each
envolope it's own name and address. To do this you need to use the mail
    merge feature of abiword.

Place a name, address1, address2, city, state, country, postcode field on
    your envolope as you wish.

There is a beautiful description of how to use mailmarge here:

    http://www.crazy-wormhole.com/AlinaMeridon/AbiWord/abidocs/howto/howtomailmerge.html

I don't know why this wonderful set of documentation is not more easily
    accessible from our website.

    Cheers,

    Martin
