    Right, I've just done this. (Yes, it took nearly three hours to cvs
    update and rebuild...)

    This is a vast improvement. I can actually get Japanese text into a
    document now, and have it displayed properly. The known focus bug with
    toolbar combo boxes causes problems -- if you change any of them, it
    effectively disables Japanese input. Also, the kinput2 window that tells
    you what you are typing before it inserts it into the document doesn't
    seem to appear.

    However, this is now a feature with bugs, rather than something Abi
    can't do. Thanks to everyone involved.
