    This has since been changed (in the 2.0.1 release IIRC
    and definitely in the CVS HEAD version).

    Originally, this was a hack for mail-merge purposes.
    The first PS produced from the merge would get a -0,
    the 2nd, a -1, etc...

    Now, this is done away with as we now stuff all of the
    results into 1 output PS file.
