Thai Support - Pango Adoption?

Hello,

I'm subscribed after seeing the call for language support verification
in recent AWN, including Thai.

Note, however, that I'm a Linux user. What I can report is just
for Linux platform, based on recent CVS HEAD build:

Currently, Thai input method is very well handled, thanks to the
handling of "retrieve-surrounding" and "delete-surrounding" GTK+
signals, in cooperation with available Thai IM modules, either
XIM, third-party GTK+ IM module [1], or a locally-patched version
of GTK+ (patch awaiting in GNOME bugzilla [2]).

The rendering, on the other hand, is quite poor. It needs some
typographical procedure to rearrange the combining marks,
which is available in rendering engine like Pango.

I remember somebody told me to spread the word about Pango
adoption in AbiWord. That was exciting to me. But, from my recent
build from CVS HEAD, it seems Pango doesn't make it here yet.

I have searched the mail archive and have read some limitations
of Pango raised about two years ago. But I think many issues
have been solved through time. So, I would like to know how
this issue is going on. Or another approach has been chosen
already?

Line wrapping and word boundary analysis is another issue.
I have provided a Thai language engine for Pango in a third-party
plug-in [3], but I'm not sure how AbiWord handles (or plans to
handle) this.
