I ses. Another possibility would be to use Mathematica fonts:

However gtkmathview does not support them yet. And, from september, beta
versions of fonts from the STIX project should be available and these
fonts should have quite a free licencing form. But again, they won't
work just out-of-the-box. In the meantime, the only safe font that can
be used in restricted environments is "symbols", although it contains
very few symbols in fact.
