Please test again with today's snapshot:
http://www.abisource.com/~rob/repo/snapshots/abiword-2.3-20050811cvs.x86.package

It would be good if you followed this procedure:

1) $ package list
2) $ package remove foo
     for each package listed in 1)
3) download and install the new package from the url above
