GCC recently switched from CVS to SVN as well, and they put up a Wiki
page that might be helpful:

http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/SvnHelp

On the topic of Mac OS X support, it's worth noting that all though
it doesn't ship with SVN utilities (yet?) Apple's Xcode IDE does have
support for SVN once they're installed. It's possible to install such
utilities via Fink without entering a single command into the terminal.
