HI Rob,
       Yes, it will be integrated into the "insert" menu like it presently
is in the ABI-MATH branch, where it is "Insert->Equation" just as
you suggest.

We don't presently have a working "Editable" view. Luca is working on
that. When we do, we will implement "Format->Equation".
