Thanks for the tip Tomas. That was just what I needed to make sense of the
docs. I'm looking into a more entensive fix for 3311 at the moment,
although I have no idea if it will work or not.

If you're happy with the patch in my previous mail please go ahead and
commit it. We will need that anyway and it makes things much better for
Chinese users. With that patch a significant number of Chinese documents
open correctly, whereas without it none do (on the mainland at least).
