Input and display of Indic script

Hi All,

The "Set Language" option has Assamese
language as an option.
But I am not aware if any work has been done
for Assamese 
language.
I am interested in enabling Assamese
input and display
on Abiword on Windows platform.
Please guide
me to the things that I need to do.
