Zooplah,
Please remember that open source also means open discussion and open
viewing - your comments are now permanently in the change record of
AbiWord and viewable by many (and attached to your name!). While it's
normal for there to be disagreements about strategy and implementation,
discussion and debate should take place through open mediums (email
list, irc) or through implementation of competing methods, rather than
arguably passive-aggressive commit messages. (And jokes in other commit
messages are simply a bit out of place - read other people's commit
messages and emulate their style)
I don't want to discourage you from contributing but rather point out
how your contributions might be tainted by how others view your
communication style. It might simply be a "beginner's mistake" but
hopefully with this many folks pointing out issues you can make some
constructive improvements.
Check out this book, especially this chapter, for some pointers. Google
sent everybody this book in dead tree edition for last year's SoC, but
it's also available free online.
