Feel free to skin me for my ignorance on this one, but if one was to
make a variation on English, wouldn't you just copy the strings that
did not need translation in order to keep a full translation status? I
have never come across a translation tool that did not have
copy-from-original function.

As for Esperanto, I seem to remember a complete submission maybe a year
back, or so? I seem to remember discussing translation details with the
one behind it, and though we were not entirely in agreement on details,
the translation was completely usable.
There are still a lot of people who see Esperanto as the international
second language, and comparing to my own Danish translation, I would
suspect the potential Esperanto-speaking audience would be bigger...
As a matter of principle, I don't have an issue with Abiword in Klingon
as long as it is maintained by someone who does it well and keeps it
updated.
