Text Rendering in Abiword

I have been trying to understand how text is positioned and rendered
on screen in abiword, while the text positioning and layout part is
pretty clear, lying in src/text/fmt/xp/*.(h,cpp) . I have been unable
to understand the text rendering graphics part, like how are the
pixels distributed on screen and stuff. UT_Vector ? Need help
understanding :)
