Shiny New Unix Font Archives

We have a new, easier method of installing Unix fonts. First
off, the actual contents of the font archives have just
been moved around, documented, and wrapped with an install
script. There are no new fonts in the archive at this time, so
if you have a set of old fonts you've retrieved, you can simply
move them into a new place (or not; you can manually set the
location path in your user preferences) without downloading a
megabyte or two again. There are instructions for satisfying
the requirements of a working installation (these have not
changed recently), which when followed will allow a recent
executable to find the same set of fonts.

You can find this document at:

http://www.abisource.com/dev_unixfonts.phtml

It's a quick conversion from the ASCII file "README" in the new
font archives to HTML, with minimal linking to resources and
directories you might need. This file has been reformated in
AbiWord and many new formats of this document, including
printable formats like PostScript, will be available soon.

This 0.5.4 release of the font archives works well with
the new 0.5.4 release of AbiWord, which no longer contains
any font information in the source tree.

You can also get these font files, and any update to them or
the install script, via CVS. Read the CVS access section
of the document above.
