First of all, are you on Windows or Linux?

I need some clarification regarding your comment that the problem happens
50% of the time. Specifically, let's say that you open document X, spell
check, and get a crash. If you were to immediate restart, reopen document
X, make no changes, and spell check again, do you always get another crash?
 In other words, is the bug deterministic? If it is, you could send me
the document, and I can reproduce the problem here, and help debug it.
Otherwise, getting a gdb backtrace from your environment would be of
tremendous value.

Let me know how you to proceed regarding getting this one nailed down.
