In order of preference:
2/ if speeds allow it
5/ if the combo is right
3/
4/
1/ that is what we have. simple is beatyful. better do nothing than
making that painful.

There are several way to do 2/ properly. Since I have a quite slow
machine, if it works fine here, it will elsewhere.
