I disagree with the timescale. The code to do basic table import is in. It
handles cells spanning rows and columns as well as nested tables. It just
needs a bit more love to handle my main use - pasted Gnumeric cells.

Well if it's a year away I agree. It's really not very hard though. It's
basically what we already do for bookmarks. We just have to paint
fragments in our piecetable with properties so they can be tagged. It
could be used by apps that embed our bonobo component.
In any case given that there is a clear concensus that tables in
headers/footer is really needed I'll leave this off my list for a while.

I would like to aim for GUADEC again. We might make it this year. The core
is pretty stable now. I use 2.1.1 all the time. The new features and these
last items need lots more love though. But I'm always optimistic :-)
