A lot of the default styles are built into the source code.
Edit src/text/ptbl/xp/pt_PT_Styles.cpp to remove them, it's very easy.

In this development cycle I prototyped some simplifications, e.g. not
showing all available styles in the toolbar combo box. We didn't reach
consensus though, so the patch was reverted.

Somehow i like the idea of having no builtin styles (except "Normal").
It would add a lot of flexibility if all were loaded from Normal.awt.
Maybe you'd like to file a request in our bugtracker[1].
