In case that's not just a rhetoric question, I have no problems
changing my mind when more educated opinions come up. What regards
abiword, I'm simply assuming that the maintainers' opinion is more
substantiated than mine. Just as i'd take your opinion on anything
bug(zilla) over mine any time.

I must confess that the proposed time table was purely based on an
diffuse feeling of "we are not doing that bad already". If we could
make it for guadec as Tomas proposed, that would be nice.

Regarding experimental features, well, I'd certainly have much less
problems shipping an experimental plugin than something in the core.
If the other "fanfare" features you mention would get some love that'd
be great, but unfortunately it's not a job everyone is up to.
