The bug seems to belong to gtkmathview. If it was a conversion issue, we
would get an error message. I tested with lasem, and lasem actually
displays the character (lasem also use itex2mml, so it reinforces the
idea that the issue comes from from gtkmathview).

One other thing, in the debug trace, I'm getting:

DEBUG: MATH ML string is...
 <math xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML'
display='block'><mi>&#x003A9;</mi></math>

which looks correct.

I'm pretty sure that this can't be fixed without patching gtkmathview.
Let's go to lasem ;-)
