i changed the usage of the ABI_OPT_GNOME var
from ifeq to ifdef.

this allows one to set it in an environment variable
rather than having to always append it to the make
command.

I also updated the ABI_OPTIONS variable so that
the value of the gnome variable is echoed during
the build.
