It looks like:

Your fonts.dir file says it has 39 fonts in it, but you've actually
only got 1.

As a starting point just to get things running, try using the fonts
we provide, in the tarball on our download site:

1. get http://www.aibsource.com/downloads/abi-fonts.tar.bz
2. untar that file in the same directory in which you untar
the abi tree. This will put those fonts in abi/src/wp/lib/unix/fonts
