AbiWord v2.7.6 Released

The AbiWord team joyfully announces AbiWord v2.7.6, the 7th snapshot of the development series that will lead to AbiWord 2.8.

This snapshot allows interested developers, testers and users a sneak preview into the future of AbiWord.

The changes from v2.7.5 to v2.7.6 include, amongst others:

Add native JPEG image support (no internal conversion to PNG is done anymore).

Improve the Office Open XML (".docx") import filter by supporting bookmarks, columns, endnotes, fields, footnotes, hyperlinks, images, lists, tab stops, tables (and formatting) and text boxes. Also improve the export filter to support tab stop leaders, table background colors and table border sizes.

Support page-anchored textboxes and images, and import them from OpenDocument files.

Be less strict when trying to load broken AbiWord, OpenDocument and RTF files.

Improve positioned object handling when moving them around or wrapping text around them.
