It's not about needing the existance of, but of being able to understand
fully. The GNU GPL is not a contract. It's a grant under certain
conditions. Fail the conditions and you loose the right to redistribute.

I think that it's useless, but I can't vote against because its well
intended. But the best way to spread the translations is to give users
the url. There its explained that they serve only as helpers in
understanding the GNU GPL, it may later happen to have official
    translations, etc.

Do as you will, but you have to understand providing translations of a
license is not our job but its authors. We should provide the
information that there are translations and where to get them, and
that's because we're nice. Giving the unnoficial documents is an extra
work that's not very usefull and can later on provide more work than
    it's worth it :)

If you've followed this mailing list for some time, you must have surely
seen the latest thread about the link grammar checker. You know by
reading it I'm most in favour of Free Software.

    Cheers, rms

PS: yes, rms :) not Stallman, but a fortunate coincidence ;)
