I don't think that you could be any more wrong,
actually. Or perhaps you've been oblivious to how much
back-porting there has been. I think the rough
estimate was 150 individual patches backported from
HEAD into STABLE between 2.0.0 and 2.0.1. This is
beside the work done exclusively in STABLE.
STABLE is getting a lot of work from a lot of
different people. And a lot of bug fixes. And most of
those bug fixes are coming from the HEAD tree. HEAD is
not exclusively for implementing new features. It's
also for fixing classes of bugs that shouldn't happen
in a "STABLE" series. HEAD is supposed to lead to the
next STABLE series. And goddamnit, in about 5 months,
it will.
We all paid our dues getting 2.0 where it is, and
getting 2.0.1 (and soon 2.0.2) out the door. It's not
without its flaws. No software ever is. We did 4
painful months of exclusively bugfixing before
releasing 2.0. Don't let me catch anyone forgetting
that. Ever.
Annoyed,
Dom
