Thank you for your explanation. I agree with you.

After playing around a bit, it seems to me that there should be two bug fixes
and two feature requests.

Bug fix #1: Table and frame dialogs should always reinitialize the preview
area to the current state. Currently they show the latest un-applied settings
(if any) instead. (The text box dialog already does ok).

Bug fix #2: When switching box/table/frame with opened dialog, the displayed
settings should be reset to their default values. (This is, because it is
AbiWord's current behaviour to apply default settings after switching the
frame, but the dialog lacks refreshing.) That way, we would have an
inconvenient but consistent behaviour, and it should be easy to fix.

Feature request #1: When opening a dialog, the settings should reflect the
current formatting (as shown in the preview area). When switching with opened
dialog, the settings should stay. (Also, these setting must be applicable
then.)

Feature request #2: Setting a border should be a well defined three steps
process.

If we agree on this, I'll file the bug reports if you'll file the feature
requests. (If you do, please CC: me in the requests.)
