    Abiword runs on Wine, mostly.

I have not tried to install a program using just Wine but allegedly it is
    possible, i usually install
it using windows and then use wine when i have booted into linux.

If Jordi still makes standalone binaries of Abiword.exe available they
should not require any installation and I would encourage you to have a
look at them using Wine. With any luck Wine is such an esoteric platform
you might turn up so hard to find bugs we might not otherwise notice.

    Sincerely
